Do blockages of the intestinal tract always show up on x-rays?

no. It depends on if the item is radiodense or if it isn't, if the body makes gas pockets around the blockage that are visible, sometimes there aren't any visible indications from xray.
There is also the option of a Barium series, which utilizes Barium and xrays, but nothing is sure fire, even surgery(I've seen things missed on exploratories).

Hmmm, ok

I have a friend who's pit stopped eating and drinking yesterday and started projectile vomiting (looked and smelled of feces). The vet has done two rounds of x-rays and nothing has shown up. The dog is eating small amounts of food today though but she just shot me an e-mail saying the dog just pooped foam :|

I believe foam wouldn't show up.

Anything like that. cloth, rubber, foam, from what I've seen doesn't show.

There could be more or, that could have been it, maybe they got lucky :|

If the dog has eaten something that won't show up on xray, they usually diagnose a blockage looking at symptoms and how the 'guts' look in general on xray (distended, bunched up etc).
