Kelcie's Senior Picture Gallery

Postby ArtGypsy » May 15th, 2010, 8:07 am

Hey guys.....

I know a lot of you have seen these pictures on FB, but before the photographer takes them down, I thought I would be a 'proud' momma, and post the entire gallery here... :)

:+)
August 2001, Kelcie Grey entered the 4th grade at Centennial School. From the Moment She was born *and Cole to follow*, I maintained and Nurtured a Philosophy Of Natural Led Curiosity for the world paired with a committed adult, would be the best beginning education. We were "unschoolers'. Not simply Homeschoolers.
No... curriculum, no grades
No tests.
No endless reams of worksheets.
Learning is the Meaning of Life and it was a privilege and honor to be the First Teacher For My Children.

Today Is graduation. Many People questioned the decision to 'keep the kids at home'...and the concept we would 'teach' *unschool* without a curriculum baffled folks even more.
We grew dill and parsley so we could WATCH the life process of a caterpillar. We made cookies and talked about fractions and chemical changes.
We Talked.
We investigated.
We played games....
We Read Stacks of books every single day.

Each Child Sought Answers and Made Each Trek through their day with ONE goal.
To Learn, Ask, Seek and Try, because that process was LOVED.
No pressure to 'win',
No pressure to do better than the child in the next desk.
No endless memorization .
Learning is LIFE.
What an Honor.

4.0 for 4 years, despite myriad illnesses, surgeries and tragedy.
You ARE the epitome of the Excited Student, and share the honor of being First in Your Class and will present the graduating speech.

Congratulations, to my child.....

Wow! Very nice. Senior pictures are a lot different now from when I had mine in 1995!! All they had us put on then was a black drape that hung over our shoulders and then they told us to turn our heads a few different ways!

Looking at most of the ones Kelcie brought home from school, they're all pretty conventional.
We were referred to this person through the woman who is writing the play for My Daughter's Story. So..being a 'theater' person, Alsyon was really open to our ideas.
She's a great photographer, no doubt. But Kelcie really wanted 'artsy' edgy shots, and I made most of the shot suggestions and even 'posed' Kelcie. The Leaves, the Bathtub, The Train Cars, Umbrella, All Tree Shots, etc., came from a MOM who just kept making 'polite little suggestions", lol...

Lovely! Kelcie seems to be growing up to be the same gentle, free-spirit that you are, Grace. :hug3:

I love that she's obviously so at home in her own body...so natural in front of the camera. She takes a beautiful picture...

Gorgeous girl, gorgeous pics... 8)

and tell her that I'm SOOOOO jealous of her pink dress/umbrella/galoshes attire... SO CUTE! :loveU: *grabby hands*

CRAp/
photographer SAID she would take down the gallery after a while, (since we bought our package and all)...
there were SO MANY better ones I would have liked for you to have seen, though. The ones on facebook have a few that I really don't think were all that great, but Kelcie liked them, and these were her 12 wallets.

yeah............I'll have to go down to Texas sometime, Bringing PIE..... :D :D :D
