Honestly I don't know why we didn't give him one sooner. That's what we use on his spring pole so we knew he liked them, but quite frankly I thought if we gave it to him he would tear it up... but he played with that thing all day long and it barely even had teeth marks! It is definitely worth getting one in my opinion. And I bet you can go to a dirt bike store and get a used one for cheap.
