Alright all, I have found the new product I will be making leads out of - parachute cord. It has a breaking point of 550 lbs so it will be totally pit bull proof! Michelle found this great website that has dozens of colors and it's cheap to buy (relatively speaking, of course!). I know I am going to get black and red, but I'd like to buy a couple other colors right off the bat. Which colors would you all like to see me buy?

I'm thinking royal blue, yellow and purple as those have been popular colors so far. Thoughts?

Personally, I'd like rose pink and dark brown to match Leni, but I don't know how popular those colors would be for others. :|

Got 3 of my paracord colors in yesterday (super fast shipping!) so I made my first leash tonight. Holy crap, this stuff looks and feels FANTASTIC!!! I made a rose pink/kelly green lead and I am just so thrilled with it. I also switched to 1/2" rings instead of 1" rings so the leads won't get as loose during use. I have 5 more colors on back order; they're anticipating 1-2 weeks.

Anyway, here are pics of the new and improved leads:

For those of you who have already ordered and paid for leads/collars, if you are interested in having one made in the same colors out of the new materials, contact me - I'll give you a 25% discount. :)

I do too, Jenn! It just looks cleaner and stronger. It's really great and I can't wait to get the rest of the colors in!

I think I'm going to love that material. I can't make up my mind exactly what I want. What is the difference/benefits of a slip lead versus a slip collar and leash?

Edited to add:

BTW, you should see me out in the backyard, lassoing them with the slip lead when they refuse to come when I call them! It's pretty sweet! :D

The slip lead is nice for just that very purpose!

It's really just personal preference as to what you prefer - slip lead vs. slip collar and regular leash. Obviously the regular leashes will be able to hooked to other collars. But the slip leads are great to toss in your pocket, car, purse, backpack, whatever just to have in case of emergency.

And I'm working on a martingale. Once I'm happy with it I'll post pics and pricing. :)

I've got a whippet friend waiting to hear about martingagles! :)

Is the new material softer?
