Papilloma virus...

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

One of my boarding/dog-walking dogs...just went to the vet this morning...he has a wart, papilloma virus the vet said. This client is going away to Costa Rica for a vacation over spring break (next week!)...and is now worried about boarding her dog with me...for fear of my dogs catching it (?) or for fear that her dog caught it from mine (?).

I'm not concerned...the dog is a one year old lab. Score got warts around the same age, and we just waited them out and gave him some immune-system support supplements. The other dogs are all older now, except for Fig (10.5 months)...and he can be kept separate from this lab if needed.

1. Should I be worried if this dog comes to board with us...
2. If not, what can I tell her to make her feel better...?

Shelby had them as a puppy as well. Her vet said that they are usually seen in young and immuno compromised dogs, they aren't any big deal unless the dog worries are the warts, in which case they can be surgically removed. Otherwise just wait it out and they will go away, which they did. :)
