Tony And Manny

Postby maberi » February 21st, 2010, 7:05 pm

Both dogs are located at the Batavia Animal Shelter in Western, NY. Tony was a turn in and Manny was picked up as a stray.

I'm working with both to put some basic obedience on them and socialize them as best as possible.

Tony is a super sweet dog who is very much still a puppy. He has that goofy puppy personality and is very affectionate. Tony is easily frightened but we are working on bringing him out of his shell.

Manny is VERY affectionate and VERY strong. He learns extremely fast and knows sit, down, stay, leave it and we are working on some targeting exercises. He seems to do very well with females.

Love Tony's eyes and Manny is an unusual Brindle combo!
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Look at Tony's eyes - hubba hubba!
Amazing some of the animals that end up in the shelter - ours down here (Cattaraugus County) is filled to the brim and usually has some awesome pits.

Matt, I think it is wonderful how you train/socialize dogs at your local place.

I've been working on an intro between Manny and a female pit this week on leash and today we introduced them in the yard. After a few minutes on leash, the leashes were dropped and the play started. I can't say enough about how wonderful Manny is with other dogs. His body language and the way he reduces his play based on the other dog is some of the best I've seen in a long time. He is a huge ham and so gentle which is amazing to see because he is a tank. This guy would do WONDERFUL with another female dog if anyone is looking.

Well I think Manny is coming home with me tomorrow until I can find a more permanent foster home for him. They are getting low on space and his name popped up as one of the dogs they might have to "do something" with. I can't stand to see such a well rounded great dog get put down so we will probably be moving to a crate and rotate in our house for a little while.

He really is one of the best dogs I've been around in a long while and he would do wonderful as a therapy dog because he is so gentle and really loves kids. Now just to get a few drinks in Heidi tonight before I break the news to her

Good luck with that! That's an awesome thing for you to do. :)

He's a handsome boy and from your posts sounds deserving of every chance in the world - you rock.

Let me know if you'd like to bring him to events since he's listed on the site! I'll start putting feelers out for a foster home as well.

And you know, I think if Heidi agrees to this you will have to buckle and agree to let her foster a puppy eventually ;)
