Fantastic! I hadn't caught up on this story...I'm glad to see such a wonderful happy ending/beginning for Miss Sophie! :)

Let me know if I can help in any way, shape or form...

Thank you guys! I appreciate the support - I'm a bit nervous about this! lol

I just called my vet and she is scheduled for surgery on the 18th. I'll have to drop her off the night before (can't be late to work that day) and then pick her up that evening after her surgery. I will probably end up taking that Friday off work just to keep an eye on her - Inara had a hard time with the anesthesia (didn't fully "wake up" until almost 24 hours later) and I worry that Sophie may as well. She will be getting spayed, they will remove her mammary mass and fix her inguinal hernia. She said it won't be a problem if she is still underweight at that point. And she asked if she is as sweet as Inara is. I love that my vet and her staff love my dog. :)

So yeah, that's that! I'm still waiting to hear if she's arriving tonight. Now that I'm a bit more prepared for it I just want her to be here! The anticipation is the worst, I think!

Won't Inara and Sophie "recognize" each other? I thought dogs remember their family. :|

I don't know - they were separated when Inara was 4 or 5 weeks old.

Good news! The warehouse has been extended for another week, so I am going to make arrangements tomorrow to pick Sophie up next weekend. I'm only holding off because my sister is flying in from California this weekend and I haven't seen her in 3 years - I wasn't going to be able to spend time with her if I had Sophie. So now I can see my sis AND save Sophie!

I just figured the maternal bond was strong and they "remember".

Look what Jenn found! There are some great pictures! Though they have her listed as only 3, which would be a miracle since her daughter is 4 1/2.

Well, another travesty of justice has occurred. I received the following info from a person who works at the Animal Welfare League:
We had a pre-trial today and she pled no contest. We are furious. She received 5 years reporting probation, 5 years not allowed to own, harbor or possess an animal, $750 fine with $600 suspended, pay $2,500 restitution over 5 years.

Gee. Hope none of that is too stressful for her. >(

She also begged me to crosspost all the dogs again as they HAVE to get them out of that warehouse. So please, if any of you can take one or know somebody who can, please contact the AWL.

The dogs definately got the short end of the stick :mad2: !!! It sucks that she got it so easy, but hopefully this will keep her on the local radar and prevent another hoarding situation by her in the future (after her 5 yrs are up of no pet ownership). Hopefully when her "sentence" is lifted- people remind the public so they do not surrender their dogs to her if she tries to re-establish her "sanctuary". I am just glad that atleast some of the dogs have found homes that will provide love and others are in the process. I hope for the best for all of them and am looking forward to seeing lots of pics of Sophie :D !!

So the woman in charge of the rescue I used to volunteer with (Shana of For The Love Of Pits) is pissed at me so she is trying to prevent me from rescuing Sophie. She told them that if I didn't go get Sophie tonight she was going to petition to have my name removed from the adoption (which she has no authority to do). She claims that Sophie is going downhill (because a warm, dry, clean crate with food is definitely much worse than the filth she was living in before), and also that Sophie is DA and won't get along with Inara. That amuses me for two reasons - first, I'm planning on keeping them separate anyway, and second, on Shana's own website she says that Sophie is very relaxed around other dogs. Hypocritical much?

A couple people close to the AWL have contacted Executive Director of the AWL to make her aware of what kind of person Shana is, as well as her history of euthanizing DA pit bulls.

She had contacted me Sunday night via email demanding to know what I was planning to do with Sophie and when I was going to pick her - I ignored her as she has always ignored my emails in the past. Apparently that angered her and she decided to strike out at me by using Sophie as a pawn. She WILL fail in this.

What is this woman's trip???????

How about she actually looks out for the welfare of the AWL dogs? I don't know this Shana, but I can tell you I don't like her.

She was upset that the raid didn't require her assistance. She was also trying to tell people that if they wanted to foster or adopt the dogs they could go through her rescue. Uh, what? You're not involved, get over it!

I sense this woman has a LITTLE ego..... :nono:

People like that usually "fail" in the long run.....On many levels.

Great to hear she is yours :) ......

We are so rooting all goes well when she arrives "home". :D

 Edited for spelling
