Rip's biopsy results are in...

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby TheRedQueen » March 8th, 2010, 9:39 am

I don't think I posted here, about Rip's lump and surgery...it all happend fast, and I was updating on FB mostly. But Ripley (12 1/2 year old Aussie) had a lump removed on Thursday...and it was sent out for biopsy and the vet just called. She said..."not awful news"...and I got teary. :(

Turns out that it was a malignent tumor...a Matrical Carcinoma...a lump made up of all sorts of stuff...hair, fat, cells, etc. She said that it won't spread to other parts of his body...but they do often come back to the same spot, so we'll have to keep an eye on that area from now on. The margins were clean...so it should be good for now.

I want to go hug him right now...but he's at my sister's house...she kept him for the weekend so he didn't hang out in a dirty field during the flyball tournament. (we crate outside/in the van)

I'm thinking that's the best bad news you could get. Here's hoping it doesn't decide to come back.

His incision site is healing beautifully...he's even got a little stubble. I usually call him my fluffy one...but since one hip is shaved, I'm calling him my 3/4 fluffly one. :D He's feeling fantastic...back to his old self. :)
