Need some good thoughts for my girl

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby DeeNtheChillas » March 3rd, 2010, 11:57 pm

Lizz goes to the vet tomorrow at noon for a "lump check."

Her vet and I discussed the lump on her chest at her annual exam in November, as well as a small one I found in her neck (she's part beagle and has a lot of dewlap and it was in a fold of dewlap). Her vet wanted to keep an eye on them and told me to bring her back in if anything changed.

I do a bi-nightly lump massage on both of the dogs and noticed a couple of weeks ago that a new one had cropped up on her chest and the neck lump was larger. Those, combined with a new limp on her right front leg, forced me to admit she should probably be looked at again.

Lizz is my heart dog and I'm scared to death that it is something serious. She's 11 years old and has been with me for all but 8 weeks of that time, the first 8 weeks of her life. I trust her vet without question though and hopefully the lumps will be nothing and the limp will just be arthritis (she has gained a little more weight than intended)...

Whatever the good doctor recommends we will do - anything for my babies, anything for my Lizz. I will be very relieved if it comes back nothing serious.

Fingers and paws crossed here too...my Rip's going in for lump surgery tomorrow...so we'll be doubling up on our "fatty lump" thoughts!

Your boy will be in my thoughts!
Lizz and I are spending the morning (if I ever decide to go to bed) picking out which collar, leash and coat she'll be wearing.

Sending tons of good thoughts for Lizz and for you. I know how that panic feels and it is no fun.

Cytology showed fatty lumps - - and at this point the elbow feels like arthritis to the vet, although she does want to do x-rays just to be sure. She would remove the lumps at the same time as the x-rays just to double check. :)
