2010 blows.

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby Libby » February 15th, 2010, 10:57 pm

It hasn't been so much of a happy new year at my house so far.

First, discover Hoss has osteosarcoma.

About two weeks ago, found out Mexi has severe, severe arthritis in her right foreleg.

Last week, had Hoss back in the vet to have some spots checked out....he has what the vet called a 'waxy tumor' on his elbow, that we are watching closely. If it grows, then we worry. Oh, and he has mange.

Then today, I'm grooming Umah and I find this little black lump on her left hock. It is almost like a crater, it is black and then sunken in the center. It was bleeding very lightly. I shaved it and kind of felt around it, and it is hard and bleeds heavier with the lightest pressure.

So to the vet we go.

She has what the vet suspects is a mast cell tumor. Tomorrow she is having it removed and sent in to be tested.

I wont be around much. I will try to update as I find out information. Still waiting on results for Hoss's x-rays.

aw :(

Bad things usually come in 3's! Hang in there.

Because you are a diligent owner you've found out about all of these things early on which is the most advantageous place to be.

I think this is one of the down sides to having multiple dogs, they can all get sick at once :hug3:

Try to keep your chin up and think positive, if for no one else then for the dogs! ;)
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Umah is doing ok now, she came through the surgery just fine. She has a hot pink wrapped leg, which she isn't so pleased about, but otherwise she doesn't act like anything is off. I'll get the results from the lab in a few days and I will update you guys.
