Just because of where I live, I always, always add tick diseases/infectious causes to my lists of things that sound painful.

Tick diseases can have such vague and nonspecific signs, that I always worry about that when a dog is seeminly painful and down and out. :neutral:

Although aspirin is going to help make him more comfortable it is a muscle/bone issue, if it is tick related, or pancreatitis, or something else, it may only be a temporary fix. :sad2:

If he seems better, it certainly warrants watching him closely (as I know you are

) and seeing how he does, but at the slightest backstep, I'd have him checked out. Not that I need to tell you that, but for completeness' sake! :wink:

I sure hope the big guy is feeling better! :heartbeat:

It's 4:30 am and Truman is not right.

I called in sick and will bring him in to Vet this morning. He threw up sometime last night. When he gets up, it is more like a cry from his inside hurting (?) Not like he is in pain from his bones or muscles in his legs/back.

Thanks~ 15 minutes till Vet opens and I call to get him in.

It's like he whimpers when he moves something INSIDE as he walks. I want to say, digestive tract towards the front or lungs area. I don't know. I am just guessing now.

It's his back.

Vet listened to my description of when I hear him cry in pain (going UP stairs, into SUV, onto twin mattress) and when he isn't crying (jumping down from SUV), manipulated his back, and determined it was his back.

Truman literally throws himself onto his back like a WWF wrestler when he plays with Lenny. :doh:

No idea why he threw up, but gave a shot of Reglan to settle his stomach.

Blood work will be back in a few days, urinalysis was fine. He is on Dexamethasone, leash walk for two weeks, no playing with other dogs. Also got a shot of Dexamethasone for immediate pain and I now have to keep him from dancing around the house.

While back problems suck, I'm glad it's not an internal thing...because that would have sucked more!

Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon with good meds and good care from his mommy.

Did you tell him about the Aspirin? :shock:

Generally it is contraindicated with Steroids, but the vet may know something I don't.

I'm glad it was figured out - poor Truman!
