We made this collar for Hello Bully's Annual Gala this year. :))
I tried a new design for this collar (bordering with diamond shapes). We just finished it up last night, and are kind of excited about the design. Expect more like this in the future from Ella's Lead. :))

I wish I had a non-fluffy girl that could wear something like that!

It's most definitely PINK.
Pink is just a very difficult color to photograph properly. :D
And it would go nicely with the pink coat on the dog in your avatar. :D

Well...This collar can be done in a color other than pink...
With even more "masculine" decorations.
And we can do a different border if the diamonds are too feminine.

That's a LOT of holes in that leather, I would worry about the overall strength of it under working load. What sort of stress tests are you putting it through before and after?

I think it's pretty, but my dogs are very hard on collars.

Our decorations in our collars do NOT compromise the strength of the leather and/or the collar.

Tests? To test the durability and strength of our collars?
Well, I haven't taken THAT specific collar and tested it, but I have collared plenty of dogs in collars structured and designed just like that.
And have received not a single complaint about the collar's strength and durability.

I also collar my own dog aggressive dog in the collars we make.
If they weren't strong, I would trust them on my OWN dog.
And she CAN and WILL act like an ass on leash if she sees another dog.
And I don't mean just a slight tug or pull.
I mean, full-on freaking out episodes.
And the collars hold up fine.

Heck Yeah!!!

You know, I've seen collars as much as 30 years old, very similar in construction to this style of collar Rebecca. You know I have plans to do some older styled collars...

In my experience, I dont see anything to indicate the structure of the collar being comprimised. It may not be a working collar, but not every collar is. I was actually thinking of some of my personal gear I used for work, for walking steel and welding. Some of it was bullhide, some was more of what would be saddle skirting. After more than 10 years, I still have the same gear I started with and I have had all sorts of tools and hooks hanging from it, sometimes as much as 60 lbs of additional equipment. But the construction of the leather harness and suspenders is entirely riveted, and the straps are only half inch.

So for what its worth, I have tested leather and similar methods of fastening under some trying circumstances. Another thought, knowing a little of Rebeccas background, and Ellas as well, I'm of the mind to think that form follows function here some, and Rebecca, If youre like me at all, you have "worst case scenarios" going through your mind as youre putting pieces together.

Just my thoughts... I'm actually having a collar made by Ella's Lead. I guess I could make my own, but I dont like doing girly dress up stuff, and thats what my wife wants for Lily. So thank you Ella's Lead!

Nice lookin collar Rebecca! ;)

It wasn't an attack, it was just a question. :|

Punching a hundred holes through a strip of leather is going to weaken it. That doesn't mean it is going to self destruct, it means that the more holes you have the less overall strength you have. A strip of leather with no holes is going to resist stretching a lot more than one with 10, which will resist stretching more than 20... etc. Wider leather straps resist stretching more than narrower leather straps of the same thickness, etc.

But why ask the question, when you clearly already "know" the answer. :D

I don't make collars claiming they are "working" collars, just as I do not make collars claiming they are "tie-out" collars.

Are my collars weak?
No. Not at all.
You can walk your dog aggressive dog just fine in our collars.

You cannot, however, allow your dog to chew on our collars (not saying you would or do that), and expect the leather to hold up.
But it takes a LOT for a dog to flat-out RIP a leather collar.
And if they do, I'm willing to bet that the leather was either cheap, or weakened in some way (and NOT by simply decorations). :D
