As I feel life should have a soundtrack, And I've been listening to this song all day, I thought I might include a link here so you can listen to some music while checking out this thread! :)

Driven by mental disorder, I finished this up this evening.

It is a new breast plate, still molded by hand, but with integral straps, eliminating the hardware on the breast plate, making room for graphics to be tooled in. The straps are tucked behind the breastplate for the purpose of taking pics.

Sorry my pics suck, I'll try to get some better ones in the coming days and will add them to my ST page;

My goals include hopefully working with Libby to come up with some "one-off" pieces and possibly some customs also.

Thank you all Sooo much!

I keep looking at this, and I'm very critical of my work. I dont think this is a finished thought. I'm not totally satisfied with the shape of the breastplate, and I can definitely clean up the tooling.

So this is more of a concept, than a completed product. And I would honestly like to see this in more natural colors. I like the red and black, but this is a little flashy for me.

Thanks peeps!

Wow! Brad, you have such talent! I can't wait 'til you're big and famous and I can say, "Yeah, I knew him way back when!"

And you're right, the song totally was perfect for the piece. :giggle:

Hey, Jenifer...

If you do decide to go with something like that, I would love to see it in a more natural, lighter tan color, with a darker oil dressing for the tooling. To me, this would be more like a traditional finish, but very beautiful.

Yes I said beautiful, and few things do I call beautiful, but leather is one of them!

Oh, and a side note, more of a p.s.
I agree, leather titles, like "Peddler of Flesh", or "I trade in hide" are kind of kinky sounding, or just wrong... lol!!!

Later!

Very nice, it looks much like a friend's company logo, if they owned a dog I'd totally buy that! ;)

I just had the coolest idea! You could buy the harness, and then they would have to get a dog!

Think it will work? :)

It would sorta look like the EGA was "burned" or branded into the leather, yah? Hmmmmm.......

Oh, you don't even want to know the titles I came up with. :rolleyes2: :lol3:

I like that a LOT!

We have two different harnesses for Riggs, but he looks silly in them because he's so small... all the straps and buckles and hardware are overwhelming. I like the streamlined look.

Jenifer, yes I agree, I think it would have that very traditional (I use that alot, but I love that look and feel of leather) look, of being branded or stamped into the leather. My finishes are almost old fashioned anyway, the way I burnish and hand work in oil and wax.

Your probably right about the titles, my kids look at this screen sometines! :)

Michelle, Thats exactly why I like custom, sized for the dog its being made for. I allow adjustment, but not like small, medium, and large, or one size fits mosts. I dont even make the straps with the buckles on them the same from one harness to the next, so that each time, potentially bulky hardware is up out of the way, and the tongue can come down without interfering with the rest of the harness.

Thanks again averyone!

Dee, Thank you!

Just keep in mind this is more of a preview, a teaser trailer if you will, and not the end result.

This is only the beginning... (Unless I get a call back! lol just kidding :) )

The harnesses he wears are Connor's actually, so they are big anyway. But even so, the "usual" harness hardware seems to be overwhelming even when all the straps and everything are the right size and length. It's not that he's exactly fine boned and delicate, but lots of metal and layers of leather just bulk up on him pretty quick.

At some point he'll get his own. lol

Hmmm, white leather... I was just looking at that the other day. Its still in the works, just slow. Jenny hates the smell of that dye in particular, so I dont work on it a whole lot. The last time I had it out, she told me to finish the orders I had and ST Leathercraft was done. then I think she muttered something about "stupid leather anyway". So I approach things gingerly here. Did I answer the question?

Michelle, do you have pics of him in a harness? I'd be interested in seeing how everything jives and lays.

:nono: Why must you taunt me?

I think it would be cool to have a harness with the kennel name and logo on it, or with the training club name and logo. Very nice work Brad, as always. :D
