Gus had his first (embarrassing) flyball class

Weight pull, Protection, Agility, Flyball... you name it!

Sooooo...we finally registered Gus Gus for flyball at Boom Towne out in Farmington. It was an uh...interesting evening! We were the only true beginners there, but there was another dog that hadn't done it before even though the owner had.

We worked on our dogs focusing on us in the presence of other dogs and he did pretty good with that. Then came the part where they assessed which direction he favored when turning back after fetching a ball.

We did this in an area of the floor where there was a lot of agility equipment set up and Gus proceeded to lift his stumpy little leg and pee on EVERYTHING  He has never done anything like this, and I imagine there are lots of smells and such, but still! I was embarrassed! When I rolled the ball for him to fetch, he ran like 2 feet and then scurried over to the first piece of equipment he could find and peed all over it. OMG he did this like 3 times. He never once fetched the ball, and would just wander around

What the hell! Playing fetch is like his most favorite thing in the whole wide world to do and he couldn't have cared less at that point :crazy2:

At least he did well on jumping the hurdles. Man, we have a long road ahead of us :rolleyes2:

I'm guessing that stuff had been pee'd on before then
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

I'm sorry but :giggle:

I hope the next class does much better for you both, although it sounds like he was having a fine time. ;)
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure....

Well, at least he had fun. You should have no problem convincing him to go back. lol

I bet that stuff had been peed on before. Don't sweat it. I'm sure y'all will do better next time.
