On Patricia McConnell's Dog Aggression DVD she mentions Barbara Woodhouse. I had never heard of her before, but Patricia described her hysterically: a prim and proper British woman who always wore sturdy heels and skirts, who cranked dogs up with the choke chain, or stepped on the leash to teach them down, etc. But Patricia then laughs and says that owners were terrified of her, but dogs ADORED her! She said it's because she was so crystal clear with her commands. But I guess Barbara's claim to fame was, "Walkies!"

So I googled her and found this Youtube video of her. It's completely horrifying in some ways, but I was crying 'cause I was laughing so hard! So I hope you all enjoy this as much as I have. :)

OMG, I love Barbara Woodhouse! We used to watch her on the local public tv channel. I still mess with the dogs and say "WALKIES" just like she does, LOL.

LOL that was an awesome video. What a character! It would have been interesting to take a class from her haha.

Though I don't really find her training horrifying - she's firm, but fair, and the actions and commands are clear.

That is true, but damn she was yanking on those chokers!
