Funny ya'll should mention it...

So this AM I gave Sof about 200ccs SubQ fluids. We gave her 1.5ml Cerenia and I am giving her .5tab sucralfate 3x a day. I'm going to give her more fluids tomorrow because she is not eating or drinking. She totally feels like poop. I also sent out a panel, just to check on things. We got some complimentary stickers so she gets a complete chem panel, cbc, u/a, and fecal.

Sofie feels like crap. Period. I was so worried about her last night. She is weak, when she goes to lay down she stands there for like 15 minutes and then just slowly sinks. She hasn't eaten in 36 hours - still will not eat this morning.

I looked up the bloodwork online [I'm bad I know... LOL] The vet who is on today will have to interpret it but nothing is too out of the normal ranges except her T4 which is .6 the norm is 1.0 - 4.0. Her ALT is 132 normal is 12-118. Other than that the things that are "low" are only by a few points.

We'll see what the doctor says, we have to do something she feels horrible.

Obviously I'm not her doctor, or there to see her, but the T4 can be lowered when there is concurrent illness, and doesn't always indicate a problem with the thyroid gland. The ALT doesn't concern me, especially if there was any hemolysis (breaking of the red blood cells) with the sample. Even so, it is not high enough for me to get worried.

I sure hope Sofie feels better. :sad2:

Sofie has pacreatitis.

She is on IV fluids - Normosol w/ Metoclopramid. Orally she gets sucralfate, metronidazole, cimetidine 2x day. She gets Zeniquin 1x a day.

I'm going to take a pump home to keep her on fluids through the weekend.

Ok... pancreatitis we can work with and can start treating for. I like all the medications that she is on (again, not that I am her doctor, but your vet and I think alike :wink:

). Is she on anything for pain already? Sometimes pancreatitis can be painful as well. :sad2:

Sometimes just having a little supportive care makes them feel better and turn the corner.

I will be pulling for her and for you. I know it can't be easy right now. :hug3:

He felt her guts and she doesn't seem to be painful, I think he would have recommended pain medication if there was an indication she was sore - not saying it in a defensive manner, just that this particular doc is pretty thorough. I'll keep an eye on her for sure.

Thanks to everyone for the good vibes. You just can never be prepared for the final moment and I've mostly just been upset that this is it. I also really just feel bad that she feels so completely horrible. I know we've had a good long run together, but it's still hard. Thanks again

Sofie seems much perkier today. She is still not wanting to eat but seems a lot more with the program. She's been doing a lot of sleeping - which is good since she feels poopy.
