Since the season is upon us......
I have one shelter located in Kentucky that I work with almost exclusively. I truly love this shelter! It's run by 6 part-time volunteers and they operate mainly out of their own pockets. In return, they survive on the kindness of donations to continue to get things done. They really go above and beyond for their animals. This isn't a shelter where their volunteers come by daily just to feed, water, and clean their cages. These people spend as much time showing these animals love as their lives allow. The take pictures, they take videos, they foster, they even make monthly trips (free of charge at that!) from Kentucky to the NY area and beyond to get their animals safe. While I know there are great shelters out there, I wish all shelters were this committed.
So every year I send them a big Christmas box. I went shopping this weekend and SCORE! I have racked up some treats, toys, collars, and leashes. I'm not done, I want to get a few more things and then I want to get some yummy flavored coffee to add to the box (or boxes at this point ) strictly for the volunteers because I think they deserve treats as well.
The loot! I had to pile everything together in order to get it all in the picture so some stuff is buried
Does anyone else here do stuff like this? I mean I donate all year round and do what I can but something about this season brings out the Santa in me!
