There's no freecycle in Ohio at all, so I'm keeping an eye on the classifieds. What size freezer would you all recommend? We don't have unlimited space, but I don't want to waste space on one that we'll outgrow. :|

Our 5 cubic foot one was an older chest freezer we bought 10 yrs ago for $35. It was about 30" wide by 36" tall by 25" across and it worked great. We used it for stocking up on sale meats for both us and the dog, and ice cream too! It was a good size for 2 people and a dog.

The 7 cubic ft one is bigger physically and does not hold that much more. So I'd say a 5 cubic ft one is a good choice. Watch yard sales too. And you can call appliance sellers and repair places and see if they get them. We sold our old 5 cu ft one for $65 to the second caller on our free ad, so they are popular.
