Low Country Expo Pics and Writeup

Weight pull, Protection, Agility, Flyball... you name it!

Postby furever_pit » November 2nd, 2009, 8:25 pm

I took my two boys to SC last week for the Low Country AB Expo. As usual, the NWDA put on a GREAT show. Lots of dogs came out and trialed so that was a treat to watch. The protection tournament freaking rocked (Thank you Keith O!!)!! Dylan was set to trial for the OBT, an obedience title, but I pulled him at the last minute because he was being pretty flat and I knew I wasn't going to be happy with his performance at that point. I think a combination of things caused this slump on the morning of the trial, the biggest one probably being my own stress and the fact that I worked Dylan hard for the 2 days prior to the trial. Oh well, live and learn. We'll be at another show in about 3 weeks so I'll do it a little differently next time.

Anyway, here are some pics of Dylan working with Josh:

Gator participated in conformation, driviest puppy, and puppy sprint races. Overall, I am very happy with how he behaved this weekend. Of course he was a kook, but that's my little guy. In the conformation ring both judges said that he will probably do better when he outgrows this lanky stage and when he is also better able to give them an idea of his movement--though he did get 3rd in his class on Saturday, 4th on Sunday. Instead, Gator thought we were playing a game when we were trotting around the ring and was boinging up and down next to me and attacking my shoelaces. Though honestly, I cannot possibly say that I am disappointed in this puppy's drive. LOL. Gator did not place in the puppy sprint races but he still had fun. Driviest puppy went to a Donovan Pinscher who is going to be an awesome freaking dog.

Like mother, like son...we are both too ADD to even take a decent picture. LOL

And a pic from driviest puppy:

Oh, and this was just icing on the cake -- but Gator's grandfather (WMK's Diesel) got his PD2 title and won the protection tournament this weekend. Woot woot!!

If anyone is interested, I can link to videos of the protection tournament and of Diesel's PD2 once I get it all uploaded to youtube. Just let me know if you would like to see it. I will also post more pics as they become available from the friends I saw at the show.

Thanks for looking! :D :D

Good lookin dogs! I really like the ABs, good to see em work too.

What part of the Low Country was that in? I grew up in the SC Low Country. :D

Did you see a fella there named CJ with a huge AB pup, Simba?

This was in Longs, right outside of North Myrtle Beach (on hwy 90).
It's an annual event, perhaps you would be interested in coming with B sometime?

I don't think I met CJ or Simba. I was pretty busy running around with my 2 boys plus helping a friend show and handle her crew.
