Hello all :D :D
Image

My name is Michael Patton. That's myself along with Jackie Brown, the star of an internet based documentary on the raising of an American Puppy named Jackie Brown. You can follow her story @ http://dogtv.com

I didn't come here to promote my website. I came here because a search engine took me here after I was researching Fred Hassen's SitMeansSit electronic dog training methods.

I already have my own opinions of that kind of training which I won't share at this time. However, now that I'm here I'd like your opinions as to what breed you think Ms. Jackie Brown belongs to. I am a dog expert, not a pitbull expert and I don't claim to be able to pick a pitbull out of a lineup of twenty dogs that look like pitbulls, although I can narrow it down to 2 or 3 anyway.

I got Jackie Brown the same way I get all of my dogs. Someone else throws them away, and I take advantage and turn them into gold. I have never paid for a dog and don't really intend on ever having to. I call Jackie Brown a pitbull because that's what the news media and the police would call her if she ever attacked anyone. But don't worry, that's not going to happen.

Anyway, I'd like your thoughts on what breed or mix of breeds you think make up Jackie Brown. She is about 11 months old and weighs about 80-85 lbs.

thanks,

Welcome to PBT!!! :)

Jackie is ADORABLE! :heartbeat:

I'm no expert either but IF I had to hazzard a guess I'd say American Bulldog/Pit Bull mix.

Thanks Christine,

That's the way I'm leaning too. I think she's a little too big to be a pit and is probably and American Bulldog or mix

Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search to find out Jackies mix. If I had to guess I might think because of size and shape of head he could be mixed with a Dogo Argentino. Not sure if there might be any in your area, but you never know.

thanks Dan,

Any info on got on her was third hand. I got her from someone three parties removed from the people who actually bought her for $20 out of a box in front of a 7-11. The third party said something about a "leopard dog" as part of the mix so I assume that is a Catahoula Leopard dog. But however you slice it, she's some sort of bulldog!

Why Thank you.
And P.S. I used to watch the fireworks @ lakewood park when I was a kid and I won a lot of 5k road races that started and ended there, but that's not important right now...One of the reasons I don't go back to the north coast much is b/c of the anti-dog climate there.

Have a great day!

Thank you madremissy,

I'm not always proud of my country, especially when it veers towards a police state. But it's still the best country going and I'm all for legalizing marijuana (even though I don't use it) and anything AMERICAN such as American pit bull terriers and American Bulldogs and American Cheese etc..etc..etc...

There should be a rule that nothing "American" can ever be banned.

have a great day!

With the name Leopard Dog being heard I would guess maybe a Catahoula Bulldog maybe? She definately looks bulldoggy and that would fit.

Okay...

Now it's making more sense. According to this site

http://www.greatdogsite.com/breeds/deta ... a_Bulldog/

a catahoula bulldog is a cross between a catahoula leopard and an american bulldog. So I'm thinking jackie brown may be about 75% american bulldog and 25% catahoula leopard, since she is probably a mix of straight american bulldog and catahoula bulldog, if that makes any sense? SHe will probably end up being 90 lbs so the size suggests this as well. Plus, hybrids tend to be a little bigger than the average of the weight of their parents anyway...

But in any event, she is a "pitbull type dog" according, for example to the city of Denver who would no doubt, try to kill her if I was ever dumb enough to go there.

thanks everybody for your input!
