Some of my reptiles

My most recent passion.
My reptiles. I don't have the ability to post pictures of every single reptile I own, but I'll post pics of most of them.
I own geckos and one redfoot tortoise ( I LOVE my redfoot tortoise, he's hands down my most favorite reptile).

This is Stagger Lee, my redfoot tortoise. He's just a baby and he's only 2 1/2" long right now.
And he's the cutest thing EVER. And he eats poo sometimes. Not just any poo. His own poo. They do it in the wild when they're babies. It's how they get a lot of their vitamin D3.
ALL of my animals have some type of music-related name. Stagger Lee is a song by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I didn't choose his name because the song reminds me of him or anything. I chose it because I was trying to figure out a name for him, and I was preparing his enclosure before I got him, and the song popped into my head.


He likes food. LOTS of food, but only if I hand feed him. He's unbelievably spoiled.






He tries to eat a little bit of everything. I think he's a tortoise goat, honestly.



This is Crackity Jones, one of my crested geckos. He was my first crested gecko, and I love him a lot even if his head lacks nice crests.



This is Eli Chimbley, and he's evil. Well, I don't know that he's EEEEVVVVIIIILLL, but he's at that size/age where they get crazy for a little bit. I hope he grows out of it. Crazy gecko.


Look at him here, he's like, "I EATZ UR FACE N I RULEZ TEH WERLD!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!"



This is Ummagumma, she LOVES her roaches.



This is Hunky Dory. He used to be a jackass, but he's now a little older and bigger, so he's not so jackass-y anymore.



And here's Meddle. I don't have many pics of her because she's crazy, too, and she's shy.

Day Geckos are cool

onto my gargoyle geckos.
Here's Re-loo. She's my newest rhacodactylus gecko.
She's unfired here:

And here's Svetlana. My ONLY gecko to get an undeniably female name, and I'm thinking she is a "he", but I won't know for sure until s/he gets a few grams bigger.
S/he's my pride and join rhacodactylus gecko.







Now for Pablo Honey. He's my moss prehensile tailed gecko (Rhacodactlyus chahoua).
He's getting to be a big boy now:




He was just a little guy in this one. He takes his bugs SERIOUSLY.



And onto my leopard geckos.
Oh boy. I have a LOT of those.
Some of my hatchlings. We got 12 hatchlings. I incubated at 84 degrees to give me a good mixture of males and females...yeah. I got 11 males and 1 female. Go figure.
This little one is sold and will be shipping out tomorrow to his new home:

This is Aladdin Sane. He's crazy, hence the name. He's a hold back.



This little guy is going to his new home next week. He'll be the last of the available Ursula babies.



And this is Piper. She's my baby. She's a Reverse Stripe Tremper albino. I have plans for this girl next year. She's going to give me pretty babies, HOPEFULLY.

Here she is the day I got her. I opened up the deli cup and snapped this shot.





Now that she's doubled in weight:



This is Reckoner. Reckoner is a Tang Enigma gecko. The enigma gene is obvious in her by the spots of neon orange on her, and I'll some eye shots so you can see her orange/amber eyes.



I HATE flashing my flash AT my subject, but you have to with enigmas to get their eye color.







I'll post my adult leos later. I'm tired.

My light box is a sterilite container with a piece of either white poster board or black poster board bowed inside of it.

hahahaha, at first I joked and said I was because our 12 hatchlings were "oops" because SOMEBODY (my husband) was going to try to breed his geckos YEARS ago, so he put his male in with his females.
Nobody laid any eggs EVER, though, so we figured that they were in their...lizard menopause.
Well, their heat emitter went out in March, and I'm not sure how long it was out, but I noticed it when they stopped eating so well for us.

Once my temp gun arrived, I went downstairs and checked their temps, they were at 74 degrees!!!
That's WAY too cold!
So, I panicked and went out and bought a new heat emitter, and within an hour their temps were in the lower 90's where they should be.

And they started eating like PIGS. But...going from that cold to heat caused my females to cycle.
So...unknowingly, I had caused all three of my females to ovulate, and the male started rattling his tail.
STUPID ME still didn't think anything of it as they will sometimes rattle their tails when they eat.
But oh no no no.
He got to EVERY female in there, and all three became gravid.

And geckos retain sperm for up to a year.
Sooooo!
we got 13 fertile eggs (one molded over and died after incubating for about a month), and 12 healthy hatchlings.
We had to learn REAL FAST how to care for gravid leos and their fertile eggs!

But everything went well and I learned a lot FAST.

And my husband built a rack, so that in case we didn't sell them, we would be able to keep them.

Well, I have three left for sale out of 12. I've sold 7 and held back 2.
I would have sold them faster had there been more than one female in the bunch.
You CANNOT put two male geckos together or they'll KILL each other.

At first I cringed because they're all normals.
But then it was brought to my attention by another breeder that they are normals het for nothing.
Being het for NOTHING is such a rarity in the leopard gecko world now-a-days.
Such in fact, that I'm breeding them again next year, and I've already got a waiting list.

What gorgeous geckos...I had no idea of all the differences in them...cool. Who knew you could learn such things on a pit bull board? I love it!

BTW, I love the pic of baby Pablo Honey in the little cup...soooo cute!

Pablo Honey has developed quite the 'tude.
He's a biter when you try to get him out of his enclosure, but then once he's out, he's usually a good boy.
I still love him lots.
He has such personality.
And he does "The Stalker Walk" up and down my arms.
Silly teh gecko.

Oh, gosh...let's see...Well, my youngest ones are Piper and Reckoner.

I believe Piper is younger than Reckoner, but I could be wrong.

Meddle, Ummaguma, and Hunky Dory are all about 10 months old (SLOOOOOWWWW growers).
Crackity Jones is 10 months old, just about.
Svetlana is...over a year old (SLOOOOOWWWW grower)
Re-loo is...about 3 months old now.

All my hatchlings are 3 and 4 months old.

Joplin is...just over a year old.
Cotten is 1 year and 2 months old.
Jethro is about the same age as Cotten.

And Lizzie, Ursula, Bear, and Monkey are all over 8 years old.

oooh, and Stagger Lee is just about 9 months old.
His breeder told me I could feed him a bit more than what is listed on his website as a basic diet.
But I already do...he's just a smaller redfoot because his mom is a Brazilian (Cherry head), and they're a few inches smaller than northerns or Colombians.

Amazing pics! I am also a huge fan of the reptile family...I've raised some veiled chams along with some jacksons...they are a one of a kind pet!

Here's Joplin. She's a Super Hypo Tangerine carrot tail baldy (SHTCTB) which means she's lacks spots on her body and head, she's tangerine in color, and she has a deep orange on her tail.
