It's normally when they're feeling all sassy and big and bad because it draws attention to their poo so others know they've been there. Or so I've read. :)

They have sweat glands in their feet, so when they scratch their feet on the ground, it leaves one more "signature" after they mark. :| My gang doesn't do it as a rule...maybe once in a great while...

I know a butthead rottweiler that does it when he sees other dogs (inside no less)...he grumbles and scratches his back feet on the floor. Everyone giggles and finds it cute...I find it atrocious that he does it in the building during classes and such. :rolleyes2:

LOL I always thought it was a way for them to cover their poo. The only time Otto does it is after he's done poo-ing, but my others don't do it.

Sounds to me like she is marking her territory...coming into her own, becoming a bit more dominant....
