Kaiser is at peace

Postby HappyChick » September 4th, 2009, 7:57 pm

Today I had to say good bye to my old man, Kaiser Markus von Homer. He was my Mini Doxy and he was a crippled up old guy. Kaiser had deformities in his back and had serious problems since a ruptured disc at 4 years old. He never fully recovered. The last couple of years he had been slowly going down hill, losing control of his bowels, urine, and his back legs. The last couple of months he was showing a marked decrease in the use of his legs. We could have kept him going with pain meds, but nothing could fix the problem. With a heavy heart I decided the best thing to do for him was to let him go to run pain free at the Rainbow Bridge. I'll miss the old man, he was the alarm who warned of impending danger from a knock at the door and one who thought that a good "licking" cured all that ails. He was the one the who helped teach all the dogs to be bilingual because after Kaiser learned his commands in German, the other dogs followed suit.

Ich liebe dich, schatzhund.

Good bye, Kaiser. :( My sympathy to you, Angie. I know it is difficult, even though it was time.
