I am so very sorry you lost your baby. Sometimes, there just aren't any answers. :(

Whenever I eat those green apples I like, I always think about Spot - I used to share a chunk of it with him (without seeds/stem of course) and he loved them. It had been my little ritual for two years that every time I had an apple, he got a little chunk. It was the only non-dog food or meat item he wanted to eat, and if I didn't give him any he'd act sad and do his pouty face and pitiful whine.

However it was always funny when I would eat an orange, he would act excited, then I would let him smell it and he'd give me a "WTF?" look and walk away disgusted.

Cleaning out the memory card of a camera today. I found a picture from when I was working on a laptop/desktop modification to replace an older PC. He had come in to investigate and I just snapped this along with some pictures for an auction I was running on E-bay.

Image

This is the last picture I have of him, as the numbering was 1739, while the other one I thought was the last was 1639. Snapped 5/14. I would like to thank everyone for your kind words, I guess I still have quite a bit to get through. In three days it will be a month, but by the end of this month I will have moved, and hopefully I will sleep better at night without the constant reminders.

Edit: All my pictures seem to be from above - if I went to ground level he would either give me a dirty look and turn around, or would try to lick the camera.

He was truly darling. And the pain can take a long time to go away - my cat died almost 2 years ago and I still cry about it sometimes. But I can also smile when I look at pics of him now, or think of him. So take your time and grieve as you need to do.
