Just wanted to post a small sheltie agility brag.
We went and worked at the CNYSSC club agility trial in Brewerton this weekend. I figured since I'm a member and was going to be working this weekend it was a good time to get my blue merle girl Dawn back out and competiting after her litter.
I am proud to say that she is back in full force. We would have had a clean run and first place by a mile in her Novice B standard run but we NQ'd because she jumped off the end of the teeter before it hit the ground. Luckily I managed to slow her down the rest of the weekend and had no other teeter issues. Her second run on Sat was our first ever novice fast class run and she took second place for her first Novice Fast leg. (lwe ost first by only one pt!)
On Sunday the skies decided to open up and it poured basically all day. I donned a very fashionable hefty bag as a poncho and kept right on working and running my dog. Dawn, who did not don a hefty bag as she likes the rain, ran wonderfully for me all day. We had a perfect clean run for her leg in Novice B Standard. She also took first place and high scoring sheltie with several very nice shelties running against her in the class. Course time was 70 seconds and we ran in it 55 even with me slowing her down for the rain! By the time we made it to the Fast class run the ring was a muddy mess and we ended up taking it a little slower and going over 2 seconds which put us one pt. under Qualifying but it was still a nice run.
It's such a great feeling when you and your dog finally click as a team. She finished her NAJ a while ago and then took a break to work on teeter issues and have her litter. Looks like all the hard work paid off and I can't wait to get her out there to finish these newly started titles!
Dawn is UKC CH Canami's Age of Aquarius RE NAJ CGC/TDI (2/3 CD, 1/3 NA, 1/3 NF). She was bred by Amanda Patterson-Inzinna of Canami shelties and is one of 5 puppies from a litter of versitle performance titled dogs. She is out of BISS CH Canami Aquamarine CGC/TDI.
Thanks for letting me brag!
