I'm curious, how long will the other group of puppies stay with the Foster?
I'm thinking around 4 weeks (or when weaning starts, 4-5 weeks right?) is probably when they start to interact with eachother more?
Your post Christine's new attack dog :neener: thread made me think of these questions. (and for disclaimers sake, I am asking out of pure curiosity!)

We hadn't really talked about it...however the puppies are already interacting and playing with each other (I mean, they can walk). :?

I will probably, however, get them back around 6 weeks. Obviously, I want to make things as least stressful on the puppies, as possible. However, keep in mind that the foster has 4 and I have 5. There are enough in each of those groups to learn social interaction skills from each other (let's face it, how many litters have 9 puppies in a litter? I've seen ones that can range from 1 to 12, most often with 4-6 puppies in them)...

Some of the big skills will start to be learned when they are weaned, which will take place sooner rather than later. I've had several breeders and behaviorists suggest weaning them early so that they learn the social skills/hierarchical rules associated with getting/sharing food (which they can't learn being fed singly from bottles).

I actually have tried that...and it didn't work (made a big mess)...and they still want to suckle (there's one little girl whose well, you know, is all swollen b/c they keep sucking on it)!

Yeah, well, she's back to acting like herself, at least! She's a mess when she's normal! So, it's so much fun trying to take her out on leash, etc!

The even better news: she showed interest in puppies this morning!

I just read this yesterday, from first post to last.

I hope Dru get's better, and has no problems after, the babies are just adoreable I just got done looking at their pictures.

Good thoughts and wishes for Dru and her little family, from ours.

Dr. Blabs, apparently I thought the light was on...but it went out ...they identified a 4th organism yesterday. Pseudomonas aeruginosa...I asked what it was, and my vet said another nasty one...and her numbers of MRSI haven't decreased at all...

So, we've upped her dose of amikacin to 4cc IM per day, 500 mL of fluids twice a day, and he switched her to cipro twice a day (from the baytril)...

Please, everyone, keep her in your prayers...at this point I'm pretty much desperate...I just want her better... :cry:
