"Pit Bull" Tasered

Pits in the news and info on Breed Specific Legislation.

This happened in Lakewood, the city by me that recently banned pits. I know the cop - he used to be a Parole Officer with me. This dog is obviously a boxer, but they keep saying it was an aggressive pit bull. There's a story, but the video is disturbing, though the taser camera is conveniently (?) covered up before they tase the dog.

I know the video may be disturbing but honestly I'm going to go out on a limb here and applaud the officer for choosing to taser the dog rather than shoot it.
The departments around here tend to just shoot Pit Bulls although we've had one or two brought in after being tasered during a dog fight or altercation with AC or the PD. In the end they are none the worse for wear and if it were my dog I'd rather have it tasered than end up with it in a freezer.

It does looks like a Boxer or Boxer mix of some sort and it sucks that they refuse to acknowledge that. The owner sounds like a real gem if he was quoted correctly, so the whole thing sounds like a sad situation for the dog.

I'm glad they tasered instead of shot, but Lakewood has an ACO - why wasn't he called in to catch the dog on a catch-pole? And if that had been a Golden Retriever or a Labrador, would they still have felt the need to taser?

Argh... :sad2:

Beautiful dog, pit bull/boxer or whatever.

Maybe they felt that the dog could become too dangerous before AC got there? :|

Yup... taser the dog but SHOOT the owner... what an asshat.

What's going to happen to the dog now? Is he going to be euthanized?

Probably, because they think he's a pit bull.
