Vet visit? *update*

Niobe's been throwing up all day. The first one was all hair - not a hairball, just loose hair. I assume it's tiny leftover hairs from the shave. Gross to clean up, but I wasn't overly concerned. The next vomit was all food. Since then, she's easily thrown up about 7 times, just clear liquid. Sometimes a small amount, sometimes a whole hell of a lot. I pinched her skin and she doesn't seem dehydrated. She hasn't eaten very much this morning, but I honestly don't know if that's normal or not. I feed her twice a day and it's always gone when I go to feed her again. Not sure if she's drinking. She's been in the cat box.

Like I said, the vomit is clear, but I'm wondering if I should go to the vet just to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated? She's acting totally normal.

Thoughts?

If she doesn't empty her morning bowl by tonight then I'd consider it.

By definition if she's vomiting and bringing up liquid, she's probably already dehydrated :neutral:

Does she always have food available? When do you think the food she vomited up was from?

She generally has food available. I give her a little in the morning, and a little in the evening. She grazes on it throughout the day but it's always empty by the time I feed her again. So I would assume the food she vomited up was from last night's feeding.

Maybe she picked up some sort of stomach virus at the groomers?

I would at least call the vet to see what they recommend.

food generally leaves the stomach within 15 minutes to 1 hr, so if the food really was from the night before then that is a long time for it to sit in her stomach.

I've never heard of a contagious GI thing in cats, but there's always a first!

It's been a couple hours since her last vomit, so maybe I'll hold off and just call the vet if she yaks again...

They used a foam shampoo on her that just rubs in and moisturizes the skin, so it doesn't need to be rinsed off.

Hmmm... maybe that, combined w/the left-over short hairs she groomed off just irritated her stomach...

I have NO idea... just trying to be "helpful". lol

I'm concerned again. She seemed fine - after about noon or so yesterday she didn't throw up anymore. But she also didn't eat more than a bite or two of her breakfast yesterday. She still hasn't eaten anything, and spent the evening and last night curled up on her blanket in the laundry room. Normally she "tucks me into bed," and wakes me up each morning. She meows when I pet her (that's normal - she's a talker), but isn't jumping up and walking back and forth, shoving into me, like she normally would. I'm gonna call the vet this morning and see if I can get her in this evening.

Poor baby kitty.
