Grant Rocks the Parade

This is where to talk about Pit Bulls!

Postby odnarb » July 26th, 2009, 11:13 pm

This weekend was our town's summer festival, Pioneer Days. The library had a float advertising our "Tales with Tails" program, starring Grant the Dog. It was a ton of fun! Three other employees and I rode with a couple of kids and Grant. The kids were supposed to pretend to read to Grant, but they were having more fun throwing the candy. It was heartwarming to hear kids watching the parade yelling "Look, it's Grant!" "It's the Library Dog!" or "Hi, Grant!" Not bad for a big, scary Pit Bull.

I was busy and didn't get a lot of pictures, and my husband didn't take a ton, but here are a few.

I also got a short blip to talk on the radio Friday morning to talk about the program. We are already getting lots more people in the library to see the "Reading Dog," and I think that a lot are surprised to find that he's not a Golden Retriever. We have Dawn's "American Pit Bull Terriers: Fact or Fiction" book prominently on display.

I think things are going well :)

totally awesome. I commend your work in promoting the breed and its image :) AND Grant helps kids learn to read!!
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Grant is looking studly! Inara is quite taken with his good looks...she wants to come read to him. ;)

What a great job you're both doing! 8)
