Please, good thoughts and prayers...

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby katiek0417 » July 2nd, 2009, 7:34 pm

Okay, I know how everyone on here feels about breeding...but, can you please put your feelings aside for a second and send some good thoughts our way.

Drusilla was rushed to the hospital today with what I thought was a 6-inch gash in her belly. However, it turns out that the gash went all the way across her belly. She got hung up on a fence (she was trying to jump it)...

She had to have 60 stitches put in on the inside, 3 drains, and another 60 staples put in on the outside... he actually didn't think he was going to be able to put her back together.

He believes she will be okay, though...but she will need a lot of care, pain pills, etc...and we'll have to be very careful...because he had to stretch the skin, it would be very easy to pop her stitches open...

However, she is also a week out from having puppies. She will likely not be able to take care of those puppies...I will be handraising the litter...

So, please, please, put your opinions aside, and send some good thoughts for Dru and her puppies...please...I really need the power of PBT here...

to get a kong? :? :rolleyes2: That's the only thing I can think of...I seriously have no idea...

They will be keeping her overnight tonight...they want to keep her sedated and comfortable. I'll get her back late tomorrow afternoon...

I'll keep you updated as I find out info. The last time I spoke to the vet, they were getting ready to x-ray her belly...

Jenn, she ran into the house...she wasn't bleeding alot...I saw something hanging, and I thought she dropped (ready to have puppies), when I looked down, I saw her wide open...

Pure adrenaline...honestly...I nearly passed out after we got her to the vet and they took her back...

And I didn't keep my head on...I called my friend John...luckily he's a cop, so he was able to get us to the vet as fast as he could drive his squad car...

Regardless of how people feel about breeding, you KNOW that we love all the dogs here, and would never ever wish any harm to come to any of them. I thought that was understood. :|

Lots and lots of PBT good thoughts to Dru and the babies. Fingers and paws crossed that she will heal quickly and be able to help out with the pups.
