Crap... seriously???

I already did all the bedding, bowls, anything he vomited or peed on, etc. but, the grass, too???
I thought the vet was kidding. :swoon:

First off, paws and fingers crossed here. You are all in my thoughts and prayers...and I've got the kittens there, too!

Second, you use about a 1/4 cup of bleach (doesn't matter if it's scented) to a gallon of water...spray the yard thoroughly (bleach won't kill vegetation). In addition, you must clean EVERY area he came in contact with. This includes cars, couches, bedding, floors, etc. And, the bottom of your shoes (or if you're like me and wear pants that are long, you must clean your pants this way). Another thing that will kill the virus is extremely high temps. So, if you don't want to use the bleach in your house on furniture, clothing, etc, use water that is above 130 degree Farenheit with a disinfectant like Od-O-Ban....

It's very hard to get rid of, and bleach is the only thing that really kills it (I'm assuming you don't want to set your house or yard on fire) other things say they "control" it, but control isn't the same as kill... You're better off doing it right the first time b/c it can be a bugger!

Seriously, you are all in my thoughts and prayers....he's got all the love from a wonderful person...:hug3:

Hi Christine,

1stly, how awful! Pawsitive thoughts for the little guy!

Is he in hospital ? If he is, have they run any bloodwork? What meds is he getting?

I'm so sorry Christine :hug3:

If any puppy can pull through this, its a Pit Bull puppy. I know one that HOWLED for his entire 5 day hospital stay with Parvo (wouldn't know from his noises that he was sick at all) and grew up to be a big beautiful dog. I still see him occaisionally for procedures now that he's an adult.

I just spoke to the vet.
Faust had a "major blow-out of very bloody diarrhea" during the night, and he tested positive for demodectic mange as well. :sad2:
The vet says that he has a very compromised immune system, and she doesn't recommend breeding him in the future if he recovers from this... :rolleyes2:
He's on three different antibiotics, and some other meds that I can't even pronounce. Still vomiting, but they have him on meds for that, too.
She said that he went downhill pretty fast during the night, but since he's getting supportive care, he's still hanging on like a trooper. And had I not gotten him to the vet yesterday... well, he definitely would not be alive this morning.
Thanks, Jen (LMM) for lighting a fire under my ass and having me rush him to the ER instead of waiting for our regular appointment last night... my vet says it made all the difference. :hug3:
On the upside - they said that his tail hasn't stopped wagging yet, and that he's a very sweet boy. The staff adores him. :D

Wow, that poor little guy is getting hit from all sides but from the sounds of it he is a real trooper.

Glad he's hanging on! So sorry you won't be able to breed him though - I know you were looking forward to that.

Glad to hear this update. I know once you get him home you'll be able to give him all the care that he'll need to grow into a big handsome boy. Sorry about the breeding.....maybe you can purchase another pup for that? :D

Yep, still vomiting up clear liquidy stuff... and according to my quickly dwindling down payment/deposit they have run tons of bloodwork as well.
More diarrhea, too.
But the tail is still going like a whirlie-gig, I was told. :D

I'll be peeking in on him this afternoon and will get more details then.
