Ok, I've been going through my movie collection (can't sleep) & here are some more:

The Call of the Wild
White Fang (wolf, dog, whatever..... :P )
The Biscuit Eater
Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog
Iron Will
The Shaggy Dog (another fave as a child)
Where the Red Fern Grows (another top favorite)
Turner & Hooch

I liked Far From Home and Red Fern.

I'm actually watching Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe right now. That's not specifically a dog flick, but there are lots of animals in it. Wolves, a lion, other big cats, polar bears, mythical critters like centaurs and griffons. Its really well-done, IMO.

Has anyone ever heard of a movie called "Pals"?

It's a European film from maybe the 1960s or 70s about a Viszla and a Dachshund who get lost and have to find their way home again. I have a book about how the film was made but I've never been able to find the film!

I love that movie as well. And although not technically a dog movie, I love Zero from Nightmare Before Christmas!

Just found this website moviedog. Lists the movie the breed of dog and the dogs name
http://www.geocities.com/soho/1910/moviedogkr.html

Found out the petey in the 1994 little rascals is American Bulldog.

Rocky looks like him.

I just saw Turner & Hooch not to long ago... I laughed my ass off, had tears coming down my face I laughed so hard. Especially the scenes at house.
Pit Bulls know they are THE face of extinction. All that remains is where they make their final stand. Say NO to BSL!

While it's not specifically a dog movie, get the original "The Yearling" - there are some great scenes with APBTs on a bear - don't actually mention the breed, but when you see their fighting style, there is no doubt! Carla turned me on to this movie - I hadn't seen it since a kid and of course then didn't know anything about the breed.
