Remember one very important thing here. There is no one "correct" COE. I am VERY picky about what I would look for in a breeding, but I don't give a crap about hip scores or other health certifications. I know that probably runs counter to what 99% of the people here believe, and I'm okay with that. If I found a dog that I wanted to breed, I would do it according to what I believed was right, and no one is going to agree 100% with my reasoning for doing so. The way I look at it, framed paperwork doesn't enable performance, actual structure and drive do. Diff'rent strokes.
Now, if Alyssa were raking people over the coals for breeding untitled dogs, then she would be a hypocrite, and I wouldn't have a problem calling her out on that. Because she has publicly stated her opinions have changed, and that was BEFORE this breeding was on the table, then there is no issue. People can and should change their minds if they feel it prudent to do so.
Quite honestly, dogs are property and if she wants to breed them according to her own COE (and the COE isn't about raking in cash) then no one is qualified to dress in the uniform of "ethics police" and start finger pointing. That's presumption. I don't care what shelter you work at, what your experience has been, etc. In America we still have property rights and more people should mind their own damn business. I have had people call me abusive because I use crates, prongs, train in PP, etc. Tough titties. My dog and my business, and until I cross the line into neglect or abuse, everyone who disagrees is welcome to take a walk.
Comparing this breeding to the average BYB based on hip scores or some other arbitrary (yes, I think hip certifications are arbitrary, perish the thought!) criteria is both insulting and judgemental. But then again, I personally don't care who is okay with it and who isn't. Doesn't affect me in the slightest, because I don't allow it to. More important things going on.
