Can I give the dogs fish oil caps

Made for people??

we have a partial bottle of 1000 mg. Omeaga 3 fish oil capsules...
can i add them to their food, in place of the derm caps I usually buy from the vet???

You might want to compare labels on teh back of the bottle. We absorb things differently than dogs do so certain percentages are different. Dosages may be different too. If they are the same I don't see why not. Things that may occur may be diarrhea, which can happen with any oil supplement and dogs. Or you may not see the exact same results.

Those should be fine. Inara gets salmon oil capsules from GNC. She always gets human supplements.

Thanks!!!

I've been buying the derm caps from the vet for a couple years, for Macy's dry itchy skin...and gave them to Dar as well. but i wondered if these would be alright to add to their food. Gerry initially bought them for herself, but stopped using them; she got tired of 'burping dead fish'..... :| :puke:

On a related note, if you keep the fish caps in the freezer (meaning you are taking them frozen) you don't get the fish burps. Just in case Gerry wanted to try them again. They thaw out in your tummy so you still get the health benefits, but no nasty fish burps!
