Well, Indy had some swelling in his carpus (ankle, although it looks more like a cankle, LOL) yesterday and I told the radiation tech about it this morning. Looks like he may be going on prednisone to bring the swelling down. Fingers crossed that he doesn't have any weird side effects from the pred. He also split the scab open again and the wound is a bit bigger. *sigh*

Poop!, Indy, don't swell up or Jen will have to attach a fluid line & bag to your weiner cause you'll pee like a fountain! Bad cankles, bad!

And opening scabs, you're earning your Face de Fesse title.

I hope my threats work out well with him.

Is this a common thing? Is the swelling generalized? Have they used pred for this with other patients?

He is so lucky to have you and the hubbie, Jen. :groupHug: Never doubt that for a second. :hug3: Remember, the side effects are temporary, cancer is not. In the end, we will win. :D

They weren't surprised when I told them this morning, but I didn't ask if swelling was common or if pred is normally used -- I will tomorrow before he even goes in for treatment.

The swelling is all around his carpus except for the very back that is not irradiated. I'm afraid the swelling is probably my fault. When we got home yesterday, he went straight to the dog bed in the sun spot and slept there for a couple of hours. He probably shouldn't have been exposed to the sun, but it just didn't occur to me that the sun could be a bad thing. The swelling got pretty bad yesterday evening but had gone down somewhat this morning.

Indy, I know that it is hard, but you can't be in the sun right now. :) Soon, sweet baby, soon. Keep fighting.

Jenn, Still sending good, strong thoughts for Indy. And for you and the hubby also. :hug3:

thinking of Jen, Hubby, and Indy.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Well, I talked to the doc today and we've all decided we're going to hold off on the prednisone for now. The swelling seems to have gone down more on its own and he's doing well otherwise, so we're just going to see what happens.

Dr E seems happy with his progress, which makes me REALLY happy.

Another ten visits to go!
