Donut Head

Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

Here's Indy wearing his oh-so-fashionable hemorrhoid collar! It is supposed to stop him from licking his footie, but it doesn't. He can contort himself into a variety of positions and get at that foot if given enough time. It does provide a good barrier for him when we're travelling, and when we're just hanging around the house. If I have to leave and can't take him with me, it's back to wearing the bucket on his head.

This cushion does give us hours of entertainment, LOL! He's the proverbial bull in a china shop when wearing it -- Tucker found that out the hard way today when he wouldn't move at the top of the stairs. Indy just plowed him right down!

Mac made the mistake of getting too close to sniff at the collar a few days ago and Indy whipped around to ROAR at him. Mac shot backwards across the room. :giggle:

We've also come up with a variety of nicknames for Indy: Donut Head, Donut Face, Ass Face, Hemorrhoid Head, and Butt Head. :rolleyes2: :D

When he comes home from radiation, he's tired and still a little loopy from the anethesia, so he uses it as a lovely pillow.

He'll definitely be safe if he decides to go swimming!

lmao

You should get one for Inara!

Jen, what if you got a little one for around his leg right above the bad spot? Would that block it?

Did you find out about Silvadine cream for the burn?

Nah, it's not worth the aggravation to him. He's pretty much chained to me 24/7 so he doesn't get a lot of opportunity to lick his foot.

A radiation burn is cumulative and basically creates a "hot spot". In order for a hot spot to be cured, it has to dry out. That means nothing can go on it to keep it moist. So, we're just keeping his leg dry and putting on a pressure bandage when it bleeds.

Aww, donut head.

The first thing I tought when I was him was also that he'd be safe swimming. How long does he have to wear it?

Thru his radiation (another 2 1/2 weeks) and probably afterward, until the wound heals.
