Once a month i take time off from work to bring Rufus to the elementary school in my area. He has the 2nd graders read stories to him in the afternoon.. Today the kids got to see him in his NY Yankee outfit, and they all love the yankees, and the teachers too, so today was extra special.

Hmm, i wonder what the kids will read to me today....

That is so great, everyone looks like they are enjoying it completely! What do they do, all take turns reading from the same story? Do you just go to the one classroom, and what do their parents think?

the class has 25 kids in it. we get there around 1:30 , and each child takes a turn reading a short book to him. by the time all the kids are done reading to him, its 3pm.. they all have a small learning disability for reading, so they read a little slow, but they have improved their reading since the program started. there are 4 dogs that go every week, but since i work full time i just take a half vacation day and go once a month. i wish we could go more though.

we stick to one classroom, and sometimes another classroom will read to rufus if the main class we go to is busy with big assignments..
