After lurking for a while I figured it was time to make an effort and socialize a wee bit more (as per my new year resolutions also :rolleyes2: )

Who I am (or more to the point who the dog is):

about 3 years ago, after graduating from university I decided I could finally get a dog (time, space, money, etc considerations) so I started looking on petfinder for different rescues in my area (Canada, Montreal for the geographically precise). Why a rescue you ask? I'm an only child and selfish enough that it was a bout time I did something nice for others... anyhow, after looking at a bunch of pics I narrowed it down to 2 or 3 dogs and I started sending emails to the rescues explaining my situation and if they thought the dog I was looking at would be a good fit (man this is getting to be on the long side... ) So somebody answered, suggested one of their dogs and we set up a meeting. Now in the dog description was the dreaded word pitbull so I started doing some research and read everything I could find on the net... so far so good... it would seem he shouldn't eat me in my sleep
Feeling a bit reassured, I went to meet Marty with an open mind. He decided he would lick me till I actually fell on my a** in the first 5 minutes... so obviously, now that I had clean nostrils and ears I kinda, sorta fell in love (and the rest is history as they say... who is they btw... sometimes they do say some pretty dumb things also) So to make a long story short (er) I did adopt him and never once regretted it.

So that was him... he likes coconuts, any toys that can be filled with food/treats, bully sticks and anything else food related... ropey toys are not bad but not nearly as cool as food...

He's not crazy about other dogs but can get along with calm, well- mannered ones... hates squirrels with a passion and loves humans very, very much...

So that's it basically how it happened: one day, I got incredibly lucky ... I wasn't necessarily looking to adopt a pit but I fell in love with him, decided to keep him and make it work... (yes, I think a summary is necessary at this point...)

why I am here:

well, I started reading about dogs in general and pitbulls in particular the day adopting lil snorty here became a possibility and I keep trying to educate myself as much as possible... I am far from perfect and I keep learning every day...

Thank you everybody for the warm welcome...

And yes, Marty is quite handsome (if I may say so myself  )... his stunning good looks come in handy when he is particularly stubborn (or is determined the politically correct word :P )
