Constructing a Spring pole??

Hey Guys.............we have a GREAT limb on our Huge Tree in the back yard that (still) holds the kid's tire swing (( a COOL tire swing, too, laying 'flat' with a swivel so the kids could spin !!)).

But I digress

I can probably safely say the teens have no use for the tire swing anymore, so maybe we could be up a spring pole thingie for Dar!!

Any ideas, comments, sites that could help us to do this ???

thanks!!!

Jody

They are super easy to make

Mine is constructed of a garage door spring attached to an eye bolt (you could put an eye bolt into the tree or just use rope to attach the spring to the tree). From there I just tied some rope to the other end of the spring and then attached a tug to the rope.

You can also use wheel barrow inner tubes for the spring as well but I have found they don't hold up that well and eventually tear.

I'll try to take a picture of mine later today for you

We put one up on the joist in our garage.

We started with a long chain wrapped around the joist so that we can adjust the chain length depending on the dog using the spring pole. The chain was secured with a carabiner.

We then attached a garage door spring to the chain with a carabiner.

Clothesline rope was secured to the other end of the spring and a toy was attached to the opposite end of the rope.

Easy-peasy.

You'll have to play with the length of chain and the length of rope -- you don't want Dar to grab hold of the spring and break his teeth or pinch his lips, so leave the rope a bit longer.

THANKS!

Bought the garage door pole yesterday............and some of those swively things.

we already have a long-assed chain that hangs from our maple tree that still holds the tire swing on a swivel. but I can see now that even with the tire swing taken off, that LONG heavy chain is going to be too close to the ground.
I dunno.**just went and looked**...........we'll have to rig it.
