Missy's Gotty needs help!!

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby iluvk9 » March 17th, 2009, 3:54 pm

Missy's computer is down. She just text me:

Gotty ate a whole bottle of Commit - lozengers to stop smoking. He also ate a whole package of dry Gatorade drink.

She couldn't get a full mouth of hydrogen peroxide in him with the syringe, so she soaked it in bread and got two syringe full into him that way. He is now eating grass.

He hasn't thrown up.

She is calling her Vet.

What else should I tell her?

Vet office suggested SALT in bread to make him vomit, but she is concerned because she already has some hydrogen peroxide in him.

She gave him the salt and is waiting. Nothing yet. She said he has a strong stomach.

She has him outside, and he is running around with his stick, playing. No vomit. :|

I had her test the peroxide like Michelle suggested in the thread on making a dog vomit. Hers fizzled, so it is fresh.

Still waiting for him to gack.

Edit: She just soaked more bread in peroxide and he happily ate it.

I googled dogs eating nicotine and it said they don't absorb it in their stomachs, but in their small intestines, so hopefully he will gack before it leaves his stomach.

Just have her keep getting the peroxide in him. I think at some point they "have" to vomit it up.

When I did it with Ruby, I gave her a big bowl of kibble soaked in milk, then did the hydrogen peroxide so that she had plenty in her to bring up. So charming...

I told her to look for the lozengers, but she doesn't see them so thinks they may have dissolved already.

Once he starts vomitting, don't give him anymore hydrogen peroxide. You'll know he's pretty much done vomitting when he starts throwing up nothing but yellow bile. It may be a bit foamy, too.

Did he puke up a lot of stuff? Any Commit seen?

The Gatorade probably won't be an issue, but the Commit worries me. Did she catch him eating them or did some time pass before she discovered it?

He puked a lot and is now looking green, so to speak. I told her not to feed him dinner just yet.

She didn't see the lozengers in the puke. :|

She said when she got back from a walk with Kinzyl, someone in the home handed her an empty Committ package that they knew was filled. None were found on the floor.

Gotty now wants to nap. Should she let him???

I don't know whether it would be better to feed him tonight, or not. Have her call the vet.

As far as napping, my guys usually nap after I make them puke. Does he seem overly lethargic, or is he just tired? He's not stumbling or acting uncoordinated, is he?

Are his gums pink? When she presses on his gums, does the colour come right back to pink?
