Hi there. My hubby and I have a Catahoula Leopard dog and a pit bull puppy. Both are males. The puppy is giving us a DEVIL of a time house training. He is crate trained but has no problem peeing in there. And he pooped in the Cat's crate yesterday. The shelter said he was 12 weeks old, abotu 3 weeks ago, but I think he is younger then that. Anyway, Hello.

Welcome! Tell us more about yourself so we can approve you to post elsewhere - how'd you get involved in the breed? Is this your first pit?

Wellll.. about 11 years ago, I was dumb and in college. I had a friend who was a BYB.. and although I didn't know anything, I knew enough NOT to get a dog from her.. although she wanted me to. I had another friend who volunteered at a city run shelter. Around that time a Mom and 13 puppies from a relatively unsavory place in NJ. Mom was a bite case.. anyway my friend volunteering there called me and I came down to see the pups. My landlord was awesome and actually called the shelter and said to give m whatever dog I wanted, pit bull included. HE reaised Danes...
So I got my little bundle of joy and brought her home.
By the time she was 5 she was pretty dog aggeressive. She had IBD (bottled water ONLY because the chlorine in city water upset her tummy), chicken, blew a knee out and had that reconstructed, and then got diagnosed with a thyroid problem. She had degenerative dis diease in her back and battled with some level of horrific pain her last year. We finally got her on steriods, and although I am sure that is what killed her in the end.. she had a year of puppy-dom again. She died last May.. quietly, at home in her bed.
Anyway, we moved, etc and couldn't stand the empty house.. so we found a Catahoula at the NY animal shelter. He too si special needs.. and we love him to death. We always wanted 2 dogs, but with our old girl we couldn't so we recently adopted a puppy (who I think is pit lab maybe jack russel mix)
Anyway, that's us in a nutshell.
