the auction is on speedvision. basically the barrett jackson auction has pushed the values up crazy for all hot rods, camaros, vettes, gto's etc... people now selling their hot rods use the barrett jackson auction to put a value on their cars when they sell them.. last auction a few months ago some guy bought a car for 3.5 million dollars....

Wonder what he would pay for a 64 1/2 Mustang that needs engine, brake & transmission work? It's pretty, the body & interior are in great shape.

Amanda's. She bought it when she turned 18. It's been in my garage for 3 years now. No money to fix it & she won't sell it.

Start charging her rent for the garage... she might change her tune.

The sick part about these auctions is that on top of the price they have to pay an 8% buyers commission + tax. On a $2 million purchase that is $160,000 buyers commission. INSANE!!!!

That's normal with live auctions. The seller pays a commission to the auction house for selling their item and the buyer pays a buyer's premium.

The fees range from 10% to 35% or more for sellers, depending on the auction and how you present your things for sale. The buyer's premiums are also different from auction to auction, used to be a standard 10% but now it's more like 15% for most. Sotheby's and Christies charge 20% buyers premium which is outrageous!

Do you have a link for this auction? Too bad we sold off our old muscle cars and collector cars... We even had a genuine 1966 Shelby Mustang. Sigh... could have retired on that one! Now all we have is a Series III Land Rover with a stuck clutch.
