UKC registered Male Needs home immdeiately

Postby mnp13 » February 15th, 2009, 12:08 pm

Brindle Blue, United Kennel Club Registered, 8 month old male Pit Bull needs home ASAP due to the sudden death of his owner. Toby is up to date on all his shots and has an appointment to be neutered. Toby broke his right leg (Tibia) around 5-6 months old and has had surgery to repair the damage. It should be noted that a vet has suggested that Toby may have genetically improper bone structure in his hind legs and runs a much higher risk of further injury. He is a happy, playful, and friendly dog. He has had some socialization with other dogs and seems to get along well with dogs he meets. Toby has not been around cats. He does well with children but he is excitable and will jump so contact with small children should be monitored. References are required and will be checked.

The brother of the deceased is trying to place him.

He is in Rochester at a family member's house but his time there is running short (a week or two more at most) and I need to place him into a foster or adopters home ASAP.....My concern is that he won't have a place to go.....We have two labs and four cats so we are a capacity.....

Rudy's rescue just contacted me about him.
Any luck? Like I said before, I can be a temporary foster. He will be in a "crate and rotate" with 2 other dogs, and be able to play with one of them(Deebo). We go to different pet stores 2x a week for training and socialization. What is the adoption fee? Does he come with his UKC papers?

He was neutered yesterday, I'm going to try to meet him to evaluate him later this week. I would assume that he'll come with his papers, but as the owner has passed, I'm not sure how the UKC handles that.

I'll let you know.

Ok I'll start putting my "feelers" out there for a home or a long term foster. Have they tried to put him up on CL? I know there are a lot of idiots on there, but If you weed those out, you can find great homes there. I know I did. :|

I met Toby today and did a short evaluation.

We walked on a flat collar in the parking lot at the agility trial. There were a lot of dogs and people around. He was interested in the dogs, but I easily broke his focus and got his attention back on me. No posturing or aggression, just excitement. We did not interact with any of the dogs.

We walked around the building, and I called him up onto a pallet and over a small jump that he couldn't see over. He was happy to do what I asked of him and was not timid or overly hesitant.

He definitely has some back end trouble, is very straight, and for some reason was limping on the opposite leg from the old break. I think he would be a fine family pet, and possibly an obedience dog.

I did not have treats or toys with me, but it was not difficult to keep his attention on me with only verbal encouragement.

I think he's a really nice dog overall... let's try to get him placed...
