Salmon oil

Postby pitbullmamaliz » February 15th, 2009, 3:50 pm

I had to buy Inara the Ocean Fish flavor of Wellness Core today 'cause they didn't have the regular flavor. Normally she gets 1000mg of salmon oil per day - should I stop giving her that since there are already Omega 3's in the food?

Here's the nutrition info of the food:

It doesn't look like it's all that much though... :|

Actually I have no idea, but I felt sorry for you because no-one posted an answer.

lol Thanks! I'm used to being ignored around here.

I'm figuring that as long as she doesn't get the shits it's not too much. So we'll see!

I remember hearing that supplements in food weren't substantial enough to replace supplementing on its own. :|
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

That's exactly correct! They put things like Omega 3 fatty acids and glucosamine/chondroiton in dog foods so that you will say "Oh look, it has these supplements, it must be a good food!" But the amounts are nowhere near enough to have any efficacy.

I feed lots of fish based food and continue the use of salmon oil.

Thanks, all! I figured it would be okay, but I don't normally feed fishy food so just wanted to double check. :)
