How much do you spend on dog food per month?

Postby Libby » February 12th, 2009, 4:46 pm

I'm looking into ordering food online, and Petco really isn't that bad. They charge about $17 for shipping. Pinnacle is in my budget, and its a pretty decent food.

So, every three weeks it will be around $60. So pretty much I'm spending $90 a month on dog food. I'm trying to figure out the best way to go, lol.

With 8 dogs, even though 4 are teeny tiny, it's a lot. I would estimate we spend about $225 per month???
We have a Mastiff... does that count??? :)

Probably $50 (about one bag a month..)

Have you checked with the vets in the area as well? They may would even order for you? I get my dog food a couple of miles from my job at a vets office that I don't use, just buy dog food.
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure....

Theres two vets in town, and they both only sell Science Diet.

My problem is, I can get the local feed store to order just about any food I want...the owner just jacks the price up so high its not worth it.

I use Fromm 4 star which cost me about 45.00 a bag and last about 1 1/2 - 2 months for one dog.
If I am budgeting I will use Fromm gold get 3lbs more and it cost about 6.00 less. On the Fromm Family foods website they have links to order online and it is probably small pet stores. They charge around the same or less for shipping than petco.

Oh Geeze, I didn't include treats/Wubbas (during dock diving season, that is as important as food, as far as the blabs are concerned). ;) So, including treats, we are probably hitting close to $300.

About 40 bucks feeding 3 dogs RAW.

Ketra I used to live in Ruidoso so I KNOW how hard it is to shop in New Mexico. I couldnt find crap in that town, I had to drive to Alamagordo to buy groceries & dog food. Everything was just too friggin expensive too.

I buy Costco food, so I spend about $25.00 every six weeks. ETA, for 5 dogs that is

That's not including treats (but I usually make my own, or use cheap meats)...or supplements.

For Gotty, Kinzyl and little Sammy I spend about $70 including food, treats and peanut butter for Kongs. I feed TOTW Salmon. I have to use grain free for Sammy.

For 8 dogs, close to $400, which includes K9 Kraving for 3 dogs, chicken for 1 dog, Barking at the moon for 3 dogs, and Happy Hips for 1 dog, as well as bones/treats/etc for all!

Wow...that's $50/dog...my dogs really do eat better than I do :nono:

I feed raw and spend about $80 each month for 2 dogs, but once I get back to making my own instead of being lazy and buying pre-made, it will be more like $50 a month for the two dogs.
