Conformation Equipment needed

For those of us that show or want to show our dogs.

Postby Chris Fraize » April 16th, 2006, 4:53 pm

Hello all,

I am searching for conformation collars and leashes. If anyone can recommend any good web sites that would be very helpful.

Thank you,

Thank you MaryEllen.

I have a few shows that I plan on attending at the end of the month and need new equipment.

I messed up earlier and posted using Chris' username, it was really me that posted though. Sorry Chris!

Thanks,
Megan Welch

What is a conformation collar & leash?

I make collars and leashes too!

Hello,

A conformation collar is a very thin choke chain. It doesn't even look like a chain it looks more like a necklace.

A conformation leash is different depending on the size of your dog. I need one for a jack russell and one for a pit bull. The leashes for the pit bulls are small, almost like a tab. The leash for a jack russell terrier is very thin and probably about 4 feet long.

Hope this helps,

I think she is looking for show leads. I found a couple of links but I don't know anything about them.

That is exactly what I wanted. Have you ever dealt with this company before?

Thank you,

Do not get a show lead bigger than 3 feet long unless you are REALLLY tall or you'll be rolling it up around your had to show and get it out of the way

I got a custom kangaroo lead in "roan" and cream with beads for Phantom and it looks perfect on him. I had one made in a slip style for Dilly in lilac, green, and white with silver ferrules, it is a tad long but if I use it on a larger dog their neck will take up a lot of the slack

They are really soft and pliable too. Kelly loves hers. She wasn't too sure she'd trade her parachute nylon in but this feels just as fine and nice. The stacked Phan pics from thr ball field has Phan's lead on them.

I'll have pics from the show next week. Laura will use Dilly's on Cuddles. I'm trying to match her outfit to the leash. :D

I got a very light black nylon lead for Riggs, and the smallest choke chain that I could fit over that bowling ball he calls a head.

One thing, bring band aids. If they pull even a little those nylon things cut into your hands and cause blisters. Kell has calluses where it's rubbed her over time.

Those look great... How strong are they ... I have seen so many leads snap in the ring. I'm also used to parachute cord leads, but yes, they do dig into your hand that is why I want to switch

Therese they have a nylon core and seem pretty rugged. I got the 1/8 for Dilly she pulls more than Phan.
