My vet keeps females overnight (to check the incision first thing in the morning). If they use glue on the males, they are allowed to come home late afternoon of the same day.

I forgot to update you guys, she did have her spay and did just fine. I picked her up that same day - used our local vet which was more but I am happy she was able to come home that day. She slept like a rock all afternoon and through the night. The next day she acted like nothing had even happened!

I'm glad you found a vet that would let you take them home. I've heard horror stories about stuff that has happened to animals when they spend the night at the hospital after surgery when no one is there to check up on them.

That was partially what I was afraid of but also because she's deaf she's bonded very strongly to us, and we're her "security". She doesn't like being crated much at night but at least she's HOME and it's a routine for her, there's comfort in the routine.
