Pit Bulls are 'snub nosed'?

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

We are flying Northwest in May and I was going through their flight info on shipping dogs. This is from their web page:

Brachycephalic (Snub-Nosed) dogs and cats are very sensitive to high temperatures and will not be accepted when temperatures at any point on the planned itinerary exceed 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24°C).
The following breeds are included in this restriction:
American Straffordshire Terrier
Boston Terrier
Boxer
Brussels Griffin
Bull Terrier
Dutch Pug
English Bulldog
English Toy Spaniel
French Bulldog
Japanese Spaniel (Japanese Chin)
Japanese Pug
Pekinese
Shih Tzu
Straffordshire Bull Terrier

I don't really think of the Pit Bull as having breathing problems anywhere near that of a Pug, EB or Peke.

And they should definately add the American Bulldog (Johnson type) to their list!!!

Bull terriers do not have snub noses either. In fact their noses are the size of a dog 3 times their body weight. However, their thick build make it tough for them to dissipate body heat.

Straffordshire Bull Terrier

American Straffordshire Terrier

Brussels Griffin

I always wonder about the knowledge, when someone cannot even spell the breed name.

I thought it was the skull of a great white, with the added benefit of locking jaws, of course.

No no no! Their brains grow too big for their skulls and THAT'S what makes them turn on their owners! Don't you know anything? :rolleyes2:

Yes, I know it used to be Dobermans who had this happen, but now it's pit bulls!
