Househunting rant

Reference section for insurance info, dog friendly hotels, finding apartments, etc.

I've only just started & I'm trying not to get discouraged. It's not that I don't think I'll find a place; I'm just not likely to find my ideal location & now it seems my best luck may be with the crappy apt complexes the deputies refuse to let me even consider (on one of my recent ride alongs, every time I saw a for rent sign, she said "You can't live there!"). :rolleyes2:

My first driveby had a fence that would fall over if you sneezed on it and now the landlords' increasingly odd ads have gone from "you can have dogs if you fix the fence" to "we want someone who will take care of the property like we have...dog owners must have renter's insurance." :crazy2: My 2nd will have the landlord living in the one half of the duplex; she lets her cats outside & seemed surprised that my dog(s) might chase them; oh, and the dipshit neighbor walked outside on the phone as I was coming up the drive and said, "Yeah, this is the guy selling you the weed..." and proceeded to give directions. The 3rd place is an in-laws quarter, tiny, but the property owner is very nice & so are her kids, but Desi is NOT good w/ kids & I don't want to put her in that position; on the other hand, the owner doesn't care about breeds/dogs/cats/etc. Oh, and did I mention my part of the yard would be TINY?

Add that to the holiday/birthday depression, overwork, guilt at not finishing the renovations before my mother moves back in, and I'm just afraid I'm going to sign papers at the first place that looks halfway nice. :sad2:

Can't someone else wade thru all the places for me?? I'll give you a kitten as a finder's fee!

OK, I've been stupid enough to mention the dog on the phone a few times today instead of looking at the place & then saying, "oh by the way..." So one woman picked up right away that "Staffordshire terrier" = pit bull, but her only concern (after hearing Desi has her CGC & won't leap for the throat of every person she meets) was liability insurance. Is there a sticky I should have seen at the top of this section about getting liability/renter's insurance that'll cover pits?

Five more drivebys/tours yesterday but I've got my 2 top candidates from yesterday! Cross your fingers 'cause I sent in my first app & I know the pets are going to be the potential deal breaker wherever I go... :rolleyes2:
