Hello all,
This past Monday night April and I attended the Working Dog Foundation’s Handler Appreciation Dinner. The dinner is held every year to benefit the Foundation and the New Hampshire Police K-9 Academy.
The Working Dog Foundation also holds and “Iron Dog” event each year. The Iron Dog is a 2-mile run thru some of the nastiest and muddiest terrain on Pease Air Force Base. This past fall, Megan Welch and her dog “Booyeah” and Carrie Hartranft and her dog “Bronx” (and APBT) along with Canine Solutions Training Services Friend and client Todd Swass with his Malinois “Lainey” competed and placed very well.
To our surprise the Foundation had a slide show mentioning our members and a special mention on ALL dogs (breeds) being welcome. They mentioned that Bronx was an APBT and that he was one of the most well behaved dogs there that day. They also mentioned Bronx a Pit Bull was the ONLY dog that outed in the bite work phase of the event.
Folks, these are Police officers mentioning a Pit Bull as a well behaved dog at a dinner for their handlers!!!!! April and I were extremely happy to be there that night! We are very proud of our friends, clients and members and dogs! The Working Dog Foundation didn’t have to mention anything about our dogs or handlers (remember this is a dinner for THEIR members and handlers) they were impressed by the control and handling of our dogs and members. So thanks to Carrie and Bronx, Megan and Booyeah and Todd and Lainey, but most of all thanks to the Police officers at the Working Dog Foundation for keeping an open mind about the APBT!
Below are pics of the dinner and the Iron Dog event.
Safe training,
